Nannup Flood Tree, Totems & Foreshore Park

Brockman Street, Nannup WA, Australia

There is a cluster of interesting things to look at here so don’t pass it by! The Nannup totem poles are the result of a collaborative project celebrating Nannup’s past, present and future. The 8 totems were designed and created by community members to showcase 8 aspects of Nannup’s cultural heritage. The flood tree marks the very impressive levels that the Blackwood River has risen to over the years. In the 1990s, well-known local Dave Blythe began placing markers to track the annual river levels on a tree. It’s awe-inspiring to stand on the Old Railway Bridge and imagine the water levels. There is also an arboretum here that was planted in 1926 and the trees have grown to impressive sizes in under 100 years. Finally, the foreshore park has an amphitheatre, covered free barbecues, picnic tables, a large grassed area and toilets.
