Schroeder Pool

Schroeder, Western Australia, Australia

This free camping area has no facilities – no water taps, no toilets and no fire places. So you’ll need to pack out all your waste. It is a shady clearing in the forest, perhaps 20 meters in diameter, about 50 meters from the Blackwood River. The gravel access road is rough but is nonetheless suitable for 2WD vehicles if driven carefully (at least it was at the time of writing – December 2015).

There are other camping spots nearby to discover. For example, near Hut Pool, just to the east, where the Great North Road crosses the river. If you have a 4WD you can explore the many bush tracks shown on the map.

The Blackwood River here has several large pools suitable for swimming, canoeing, fishing for bream and marron in season. There are many vehicle and walking tracks, some courtesy of marron hunters, that are pleasant for hiking.

At the river crossing at Hut Pool there is a day-use area and a toilet.
